To get rid of some noise from my main computer which is (almost) always online, I've decided to replace the AMD "box" fan and the (dead) northbridge fan from my A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard. I've chosen to use a Thermalright XP-90 heatsink together with an Akasa Ultra Quiet (yellow) fan, and a Zalman ZM-NB47J nothbridge heatsink.

After a few hours of fighting to remove the old heatsinks/fans, and to install the new ones, I got my computer up again \o/ (my last fan replacement try made my 5-years old XP 800+ processor die...)

What a change, the fan is really quiet, and the temperatures level look correct. Too bad that my X550 graphical card has as well a noisy fan, it will probably get replaced soon :-p

While I was at it, I've upgraded the motherboard BIOS, to see if there was any improvement about suspend and hibernation. I've used freedos to flash the (Award) Bios with a bootable CD. It went well, but suspend and hibernation still fail...
